Shopify partners with Coinbase and Stripe

Shopify (SHOP) announced yesterday at the Coinbase event that it was rolling out stablecoin payments to all users on its platform later this year. Shopify will give merchants who accept USDC up to 0.5% cash back, and it plans to also give customers who decide to pay with USDC an unspecified percentage of cash back later this year. Stablecoin Summer

Walmart, Amazon, and Expedia are looking into issuing their own stablecoins, as reported this morning by the WSJ. Last week, it was rumors of Apple, AirBnB, and Google looking into stables. Before that, was Meta and Uber also making headlines about slashing card and cross-boarder fees. All these cost-cutting decisions, however, will depend on what happens with the GENIUS Act, with the final vote (for real this time) hitting the senate floor next week on June 17. Read more →
