Prediction markets are booming. The dirty secret though: Almost all revenue comes from sports betting.

Sam Learner for the Financial Times looked into the betting phenomenon and created some great visuals as well (see here).

Crypto stocks surge on BTCs 2026 win streak

We are now 5 days into 2026, and every single one of those days has seen BTC in the green – up about 6%. That’s the longest win streak since October. Obviously, all eyes are on Venezuela for where the market may go next. But with crypto-assets performing well, crypto stocks are surging as well this morning:

  • DATs: Strategy (MSTR) +6%, Strive (ASST) +14%, Bitmine (BMNR) +3.5%

  • Miners: MARA Holdings (MARA) +6%, Riot Platforms (RIOT) +3%, Hut 8 (HUT) +10%

  • Exchanges: Coinbase (COIN) +7.5%, Robinhood (HOOD) +4.5%
