IOND jumps 25% in Nasdaq debut

Ionic Digital debuted on Nasdaq Tuesday under the ticker IOND, jumping more than 25% and valuing the company at roughly $2.75 billion. Ionic was created in 2024 to acquire most of Celsius Mining’s assets out of bankruptcy, including its mining equipment, infrastructure, cash and bitcoin. It still mines BTC, but the bigger pitch is AI. Ionic is repurposing power-heavy mining sites for high-performance computing and has signed a long-term lease with AI cloud provider Nscale worth up to $2.6 billion. Read more →

Claude takes a swing at quantum-safe crypto

Anthropic researchers using Claude’s Mythos Preview found a major weakness in HAWK, a digital-signature system (not a token) designed to withstand future quantum computers. It also found a 200-800x faster way to attack a deliberately weakened version of AES, the encryption standard widely used to protect online data. Each result cost roughly $100,000 in API usage.

The exercise – and yes, perhaps a bit of Anthropic showing off – strengthens the case that frontier models can now uncover mathematical flaws that human cryptographers missed after years of review. Nothing currently deployed was broken. Read more →

Wall Street takes sides on Clarity

As the Clarity Act heads toward its make-or-break stretch, some of Wall Street’s biggest names are stepping up publicly to push it forward. BlackRock, Fidelity, Franklin Templeton, Goldman Sachs and SoFi have all backed passage, arguing that clearer rules would protect investors and let regulated institutions participate more actively in crypto.
