

Tennessee Bans Bitcoin ATMs
Tennessee is set to become the second state to ban Bitcoin and crypto ATMs, with a new law taking effect July 1 that makes it a criminal offense to own or operate the machines. The crackdown is being framed less as an anti-crypto move and more as a consumer-protection response to scams, especially against seniors: the FBI says Americans over 60 lost $257 million to Bitcoin ATM-related scams last year, up 58% from the year before. Stablecoin Velocity Has More Than Doubled
Since early 2024, stablecoin velocity — adjusted monthly transfer volume relative to circulating supply — has roughly doubled, climbing from 2.6x to 6x. A rising velocity means demand for stablecoin transactions is outpacing new issuance, so existing supply is working harder. Litecoin Rewrites Part of its Chain
Litecoin had an ugly weekend after attackers exploited a bug tied to its MWEB privacy layer, triggering a deep chain reorganization that erased a short stretch of blockchain history. Without getting too technical, some older mining nodes accepted invalid transactions, attackers tried to use the window to double-spend against cross-chain swap protocols, and the network ultimately had to roll back roughly 13 blocks to remove the bad activity. The Litecoin Foundation says the vulnerability has been patched. Overall, it is not the end of Litecoin, and LTC barely moved on the news, but it is still a bad look for a network that has long marketed itself as boring, reliable, and battle-tested. Read more →
