Clarity Act Clock Still Ticking

The next two weeks could decide whether the Clarity Act has a real chance of becoming law this year. The Senate is out until July 13, which means staffers, the White House and crypto industry groups are now rushing to resolve everything. If lawmakers can get a deal ready, the bill could hit the Senate floor later in July or early August. If not, it risks slipping into September, where midterm politics make everything harder. Ripple CEO: Strategy Has Hurt Crypto Market

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse criticized Michael Saylor’s Strategy last week, arguing that “financial engineering” does not create long-term crypto value. His target was Strategy’s preferred stock, STRC, which is supposed to trade near $100 but has fallen roughly 25% below par as investors demand more yield to fund the company’s bitcoin machine. Garlinghouse’s broader point is that digital assets need real utility, not just clever capital structures. Fair enough. Securitize Set to Raise $400 Million as NYSE Listing Nears

Securitize’s public listing is almost here. The tokenization firm behind BlackRock’s BUIDL fund said its SPAC deal with Cantor Fitzgerald is on track to close July 1, with shares expected to begin trading on the NYSE under the ticker SECZ on July 2. In a Friday update, the company said it expects to receive about $400 million in gross proceeds from the SPAC merger and related PIPE financing.Securitize helps turn traditional assets like funds and securities into blockchain-based tokens, and already works with names including BlackRock, Apollo, KKR, VanEck and BNY.
