

'Return the bitcoin': Blockstream refuses ransom demand for remaining 600 BTC from Liquid exploit
After chats between last week’s Liquid exploiter and Blockstream went encrypted, many assumed that the parties had negotiated a 15% “fee" of 600 BTC which the exploiter kept. Not so fast. Blockstream now says it will pursue recovery rather than pay the exploiter’s requested 10% bounty. If the funds are not returned, it said it will work with law enforcement, exchanges, service providers, forensic specialists, and other parties to trace and recover the assets and identify those responsible. Clarity hits crunch time (again)
With its first Senate vote now just days away, Republicans have released a new 630-page version of the Clarity Act incorporating more than 100 changes requested by Democrats, including new rules for crypto platforms that call themselves decentralized but still retain meaningful centralized control. The revised bill heads into its September 15 procedural vote, where it will need 60 votes to advance. Read more →
Witkoff Reports $107 Million in 2025 crypto income
Steve Witkoff, Trump‘s special envoy for Ukraine & the Middle East, reported $107 million in 2025 income from the holding company that owned his stake in World Liberty, up from $34 million in 2024. The number arrives just as the Clarity Act is hitting crunch time (see above), and as Democrats are refusing to advance the bill without conflict-of-interest restrictions covering the president and his family.
